A New Look and A New Format

It’s hard to believe that this blog has been in existence for over five years now. I’ve got to meet so many new people and had so many opportunities – thanks to all of you who have taken the time to read my humble words and to leave so many wonderful comments. Thank you so so much to those of you who have followed along, emailed and joined in. It’s been an amazing journey. But now I feel it’s tme to move onto the next step of this enormous adventure. Because that is what this is, we never know what is around the corner, but I do know that I love writing with our news, I love sharing parts of our life here and I love the connection with you all.

But I want this blog to be better. I want each post to feature a mixture of things, a round up of events and so after much consideration and a lot of chatting amongst the family, I have decided to change the format and deliver instead in the form of a monthly newsletter. The only big difference for you is that you will have to resubscribe in order to follow along and you can do so here on our website, it is the first section of www.ourfrenchlifestyle.com

The newsletter will come out on the first Saturday of each month, unless something exceptional means we add an extra or during the holiday period we change the day slightly.

There will be several sections. First up a round up of what has been happening with us here in France. Think of it as a chatty letter or email to a friend, because that’s exactly how I am looking at it, I’m writing to all of you as my virtual friends.

Of course we’ll include anything interesting that has happened locally, places we have visited either here in the Charente Maritime or throughout France, things we have seen, things that we think will interest you.

We’ll continue to include the children, they’re growing up so fast and of course the dogs and cats. And maybe in the future, a couple of hens once more.

We’ll talk about the house and garden, any changes we make and plans for the future as they are integral to our life here. We’ll discuss the gîte naturally, as welcoming guests here has been one of the highlights of living in France; it is such a pleasure to meet so many fabulous people.

Each newsletter will include a seasonal recipe or two. Ideas on what we are planning to put on the menu so to speak that month and of course any tips we have for the garden that we have picked up along the way.

There will also always be a special section on Brocante, as well. Because that is one of my absolute passions and sending our special finds to new homes around the world is the best feeling; it’s even better when we get photos showing them in their new homes.

We’ll talk about properties for sale locally, village life and anything else that we think will be interesting.

I am so excited for this new way forward and to keep bringing the best of French life to you in what we honestly believe will be a far better format.

Our first newsletter will come out on Saturday 4th September. But please remember in order to receive it you have to sign up on our website here as it will be taking over from this blog.

We really hope you will sign up and follow along, the change in format is with all of you in mind to connect in what we believe will be a much better way. Of course you can always follow along on instagram to get daily photos and stories. And if you have any things you would like to see included please, please do let us know. Leave a comment or send us an email at frenchlife17@gmail.com

Merci mille fois xxx

  6. Congratulations, Susan, on the blogaversary and I look forward to seeing the newsletter. I’m sad that I’ve missed my second yearly trip to France because of Covid. Not sure my s-i-l and b-i-l will still be in France next year. They may be in Norway. We’ll see. I’m hoping for one more year in France but either will still be lots of fun.

Be well, be happy and it will be a monthly Saturday date to anticipate !
